FIRE STATIONS
Over the past few years my interests have strayed from taking photos of fire apparatus and fire scenes, to taking photos of
fire stations. I still take those apparatus photos, and if there’s a fire, I’ll be there as well. But with the Fire Prevention folks
doing their jobs so well, the big fires are rare in the Phoenix area. Since I have always had an interest in structural design and
layout, I guess this evolution is a natural one. I find the more classic-style fire stations most appealing, and I especially like the
old stone and brick fire stations. Today, many Fire Departments are designing their new stations to be a bit more traditional.
Some of the newer stations in the Phoenix area have stepped backwards towards the more classic designs, while others are
taking paths not yet explored by others. All photos on these pages were taken by myself unless otherwise noted. If you'd like
